“The Speed Cubers” Documentary on Netflix!
Just yesterday, a documentary revolving around the wholesome community of speedcubers was released on Netflix. The documentary follows two speedcubers: Feliks Zemdegs and Max Park. Feliks had held all of the world records since around 2009, and it wasn’t until 2016 when anybody broke just one of them. Max Park was the one who beat Feliks’ seven year streak of world records! Max, who was born with autism, has been able to use speedcubing as a way to not only develop his fine motor skills, but his social abilities as well! Max and Feliks eventually develop a very strong friendship, showing that Max’s condition has no impact on their relationship, which is extremely inspiring and heartwarming.
Although I didn’t get to appear in the final documentary, I did get the opportunity to be interviewed during the World Championships, where much of the documentary was filmed. I actually appear for a second or two in the trailer, which I found to be a pleasant surprise!
